The national register and its 2026 changes
Since the February 2026 amendments under Government Gazette No. 54106, South Africa's self-exclusion register is centrally managed by the National Gambling Board rather than run per-province. A person applies using Form NGB 1/1, submitted digitally or on paper with a recent colour photo and ID copy, and the exclusion takes effect 10 days after the Board receives it.
Once active, the exclusion covers licensed operators nationwide, including PantherBet, not just the site where the application was filed. Reversal, called upliftment, is only considered after a fixed minimum of six months and requires proof of attending the required counselling sessions — there is no early opt-back-in.

Calls to the National Responsible Gambling Programme's toll-free helpline rose 623% in the 2024/25 financial year, from roughly 140,000 to over one million, and the Programme's own data now puts problem gambling at 31% of callers, up from under 6% in 2017.

What self-exclusion does to a PantherBet balance
A verified self-exclusion blocks new deposits and new bets immediately, but it does not automatically release funds sitting inside an active bonus. Under PantherBet's own bonus terms, any tied balance is void the moment the account is restricted, and real-money funds separate from a bonus remain withdrawable subject to standard FICA checks.
PantherBet reserves the right to cancel a bonus and its winnings where an account shows signs of harmful play, independent of a formal register exclusion. No one under 18 may hold an account, and this applies regardless of any self-exclusion status.
